De Oude Vismijn

The Oude Vismijn, meaning old fish market, is one of the oldest market sites in Ghent and Belgium. In 2010, the entire building was carefully renovated and transformed into a premium location for high end events. To achieve an elegant yet powerful sound system, the venue partnered with AUDAC. As part of the project, detailed acoustic EASE simulations were carried out to optimize loudspeaker placement and performance within the historic structure.

The building is divided into twelve zones, including one large event hall, several smaller event spaces, a restaurant and a lounge bar. The main hall is equipped with multiple clusters of four WX502 loudspeakers. In total, 58 WX502 loudspeakers were installed, complemented by 10 ASP20 spherical loudspeakers, 12 CS75 ceiling speakers and 3 CSS556 surface mount speakers.

For system power, two Q2 amplifiers and one Q4 amplifier were used together with TR transformer modules to support the 100 volt audio distribution.

The original control platform built around two linked R2 units has since been replaced by a LUNA F audio matrix processor combined with four NIO240 network I O mixing breakout boxes. These provide four microphone or line inputs each and support Dante and AES67 audio networking. This updated system ensures that all local inputs and audio sources are available throughout the entire venue, while offering greater flexibility, reliability and future readiness.

This installation demonstrates how AUDAC solutions can be used to create a powerful, refined and scalable audio system for a demanding and architecturally sensitive location.
