Named after the family that ran it for 71 years, Bells Hotel, located in South Melbourne on the fringe of the Melbourne city centre, was first licensed in 1874. The hotel was taken over by the Commercial Hospitality Group (CHG) in 2013. The team at CHG started working on a plan to update the old hotel to deliver the perfect combination of an old pub charm and modern convenience.
CHG’s vision has resulted in a seamless blend of the old and new, with contemporary fittings, finishes and furniture working in perfect harmony with the pub’s charming original features, including the slate roof, chimneys and double hung sash windows.
The Bells Hotel now features six separate dining and function areas, as well as a sports bar and several outdoor areas like the rooftop bar, with a stunning view of the Melbourne skyline.
CHG was searching for a company to deliver an integrated audio solution which would help bring the hotel into the modern day. They quickly enlisted the assistance of our Australian distributor Audio Logistics to design an audio system which would allow the venue to be used for everything from sports events to weddings. The result is a modern, high-quality, distributed audio solution from AUDAC which caters for CHG’s every need and is simple for the staff to operate.
Due to the size of the venue, 2 M2 multimedia digital audio matrix systems were linked together to provide 16 separate audio zones. The control of each of the zones is through a combination of 3 DW5066 all-in-one wall panels and control tablets running the AUDAC Touch™ control application.
A total of 72 AUDAC speakers have been installed in the venue, which include 12 WX802_O outdoor wall speakers, 48 WX502 indoor and outdoor wall speakers, 8 CS85 in-ceiling speakers and 4 CS1000 in-wall subwoofers. A CAP424 and 4 CAP448 quad-channel power amplifiers the power for all of the audio zones.
CHG management have been so impressed with the performance and ease of use of the entire system that they want to install another multi-zone AUDAC system in another hotel which they operate, which is located next to the South Melbourne Market.
