Almaty Museum of Arts

The Almaty Museum of Arts in Kazakhstan represents a modern cultural landmark designed to deliver an immersive and carefully curated visitor experience. To complement its contemporary architecture and diverse exhibition spaces, the museum required an intelligent audio system capable of providing subtle background music, clear public address functionality, and reliable multi-zone control across the entire facility. With dozens of independent exhibition areas, public zones, and circulation spaces, the system needed to combine acoustic precision, operational flexibility, and seamless integration without distracting from the visual environment.

One of the primary challenges was ensuring consistent and balanced sound coverage across a large and architecturally complex building. Open galleries, varying ceiling heights, and acoustically sensitive exhibition spaces demanded a solution that could deliver excellent speech intelligibility and uniform sound dispersion while maintaining a discreet visual presence. In addition, the museum required centralized control of background music and paging, with the ability to manage multiple zones independently and instantly prioritize emergency or announcement signals when needed.

To meet these requirements, the installation, delivered in close collaboration with AUDAC distributor STEPLine, is built around three LUNA-F digital audio matrix processors, forming the central backbone of the system. These processors manage all audio routing, zone distribution, and system supervision, allowing dozens of independent audio zones to operate simultaneously while remaining fully synchronized and centrally controlled. The LUNA-F ensures reliable signal management and enables the system to adapt effortlessly between daily ambient playback and priority paging scenarios. In addition, integration with AUDAC Touch™ provides intuitive system visualization and control, enabling straightforward monitoring and management of the entire installation.

Supporting the matrix infrastructure, PMQ series amplifiers provide efficient and reliable power distribution across the extensive loudspeaker network. Designed for multi-channel performance and high system efficiency, these amplifiers ensure stable operation while maintaining optimal sound quality across all zones. Integrated NPM200 paging consoles provide the museum with a dedicated and intuitive interface for public announcements and emergency communication, ensuring clear and immediate message delivery throughout the facility.

To achieve consistent and immersive sound coverage, more than 600 AUDAC loudspeakers were carefully selected and deployed based on the acoustic requirements of each space. Discreet ceiling loudspeakers, including the NELO706I, CSF506, and CIRA824I, provide uniform sound distribution throughout exhibition galleries and circulation areas while blending seamlessly into the architectural design. In areas requiring enhanced directional clarity or higher output, surface-mounted loudspeakers such as the ATEO series, KYRA column speakers, and WX series deliver controlled dispersion and excellent speech intelligibility. This layered approach ensures that audio remains present yet unobtrusive, preserving the artistic atmosphere while enhancing the overall visitor experience.

User interaction and local control are simplified through NWP222 network wall panels, allowing staff to manage local audio inputs and adjust playback where required. Combined with the centralized LUNA-F control architecture, this enables both global system management and flexible local operation without introducing complexity.

The result is a fully integrated and intelligent audio environment that supports the museum’s operational and artistic vision. The AUDAC system delivers transparent sound reproduction, reliable paging functionality, and precise multi-zone control, ensuring that audio enhances rather than competes with the exhibitions. By combining advanced digital processing, efficient amplification, and carefully selected loudspeaker solutions, the installation provides a future-proof audio infrastructure that aligns perfectly with the architectural and cultural ambition of the Almaty Museum of Arts.
