Stadsschouwburg Antwerpen is one of Belgium’s most iconic theatre venues, bringing together large-scale productions, touring artists, and public events. The building is divided into three operational sound areas: the artist loges, the front-of-house spaces such as bars, foyers, and polyvalent rooms, and the main concert hall. To support flexible artistic workflows while keeping daily operation simple for staff, a dual AUDAC system was implemented AV Integrator Spinn.
Two LUNA-F processors serve as independent network audio cores: one dedicated to the 24 artist loges and one for all front-of-house areas. Although the two systems currently function separately, both are wired to allow future Dante communication between cores. Routing, monitoring, and scene recall are handled through AUDAC Touch, offering individual dashboards for technical staff, theatre personnel and practical audio-file playback control.
The theatre’s 24 loges each offer artists their own listening environment with an individual NCP105 controller. Performers can select between the live concert mix or the ambient microphones that capture audience reactions such as applause and ovation levels. A third mix option combines both signals, allowing performers to monitor stage output and public response simultaneously. Paging to the loges is handled through NPM200, enabling clear and direct communication only when required.
The bars, foyers, polyvalent rooms and circulation corridors are structured in five audio zones. Every zone features an NCP105 wall panel with source selection and rotary volume control, ensuring consistent behaviour for staff regardless of event format. NWP220 panels provide XLR access for external technicians, DJs or presenters, making it straightforward to add temporary sources without disturbing the wider building setup.
Evening presets, intermission cues and start-of-show announcements are coordinated through AUDAC Touch, with separate dashboards for technicians and basic staff operation. Amplification across both infrastructures is delivered through PMQ and SMQ platforms, while ATEO and CIRA loudspeakers allow a balanced and unobtrusive result, adapting from quiet reception atmospheres to high-turnover event intervals.
Stadsschouwburg Antwerpen now benefits from a clear separation between performer monitoring and front-of-house operation, while maintaining an audio network prepared for future integration across the entire theatre.
